Quote of the Week
“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.” - Thomas Jefferson (The Founding Fathers established the United States as a Constitutional Republic -- not a democracy.)

In the movie, Remember the Titans, a group of black and white football members came together against their prejudices and all odds to win a State Championship. They worked hard together, learned to accept each other and became life-long friends because they worked together for a greater cause.

In the last year and a half, the tea party members have worked together also for a greater cause. The cause of liberty! We have stood inside the offices of our Senators and Representatives asking them tough questions such as Why did you vote for this or this or this? We have written letters, we have called, we have signed petitions, we have flown to DC for special legislative votes and together with 2 million of our new friends in the tea party movement – marched on Washington to show solidarity together.

Still – they have ignored us and continue to pass legislation that we do not want, we cannot afford and the polls are showing we have big numbers against their plans.

Yet – they still move forward with arrogance and hostility against the American people and our Constitution.
NOW it is time for you to join us and become a Tea Party Titan. That means…we need your help to change the House and Senate in November. It’s time for you to come to the aid of your country.

In the movie, there is one scene where the Coach says “Let them Remember” -

Let’s help them remember all the times they ignored our concerns and thumbed their noses at us.
How: We have set up a new team and we hope all of you will join it. It’s the 2010 Election Team and we will mobilize individuals into different jobs within this group. The jobs will focus on November 2nd elections and getting educational materials into the hands of our friends and neighbors, making phone calls to contact candidates, and researching candidates about their backgrounds and voting records.

We need all hands on deck and we need you. Please go to this link and sign up for our Initial Meeting next Thursday at the First Coast Tea Party headquarters. http://firstcoastteaparty.ning.com/group/2010elections

If you have never done anything like this before – no worries! Most of us haven’t but we sure as heck have a lot of passion and drive to restore the Republic and all it takes is everyone doing their part to ensure success.

Get inspired and get going – your country is counting on you!

Four days ago, Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R) sent out a message and asked people to drive to DC and look the Representatives in the eye about the healthcare bill.  This was an urgent call from a Representative and no one that we know of has ever done this before.

Like the shot heard round the world, patriots responded and are coming from the West Coast, flying from the south, taking buses from all points of the US and making their way to DC to stand up against Socialism.

Let it be known that you are expected to VOTE NO on any Healthcare Reform that includes Public Option, Government-run Healthcare. We are debt-ridden and can not afford this huge, spending bill.

Let it be known that you are expected to VOTE NO on any Mandates Forcing Americans to buy healthcare insurance. This is Un-Constitutional and a personal attack on our freedoms and liberties.

Let it be known that you are expected to VOTE NO on any bill that does not include Tort Reform. The Governor of Mississippi was interviewed regarding Health Care and their Tort Reform bill which was enacted 5 years ago.  His message was as follows:  the filing of frivolous law suits declined by 91%; the cost of Doctor’s malpractice insurance declined by 42%;  Doctors are moving back to the State; the savings of needless tests (which used to be done as a CYA measure) is inestimable!  Common sense has prevailed and health care has improved, as a result.

Let it be known that you are expected to VOTE NO on this bill, period. Anything that has over 500 Amendments is a bill filled with errors and pork and will eventually become legislation filled with corruption and waste once again.

The First Coast Tea Party (and the famous Dartmouth) were part of the largest march on Washington DC ever this past weekend. An estimated 1.6 million people flooded the streets of Washington DC from the Capitol to the White House in protest of the proposed health care reform plan and other government big spending.

During a recent trip to Tallahassee, Florida, Billie Tucker, one of the organizers of The First Coast Tea Party, was interviewed for an article in the Florida Times-Union.

Health Care Reform: ‘Now they’re just mad’
By Brandon Larrabee

TALLAHASSEE – Billie Tucker didn’t used to be a political activist.

Not that she was uninvolved. Tucker, now 54, registered when she was 18 and voted whenever there was an election. She would put out her chosen candidate’s yard sign and put the odd bumper sticker on her car during campaign season, but when the election passed she focused on being a wife, mother and owner of a small consulting firm.

“I never really paid attention to those big issues,” she said.

Then Tucker heard about the bank bailouts and mortgage rescue plans that began with George W. Bush and carried over to the Obama administration.

“I was stunned,” she said, “and mad as heck.”

Recent News:

MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and some in the liberal media have targeted The First Coast Tea Party’s success and attacked our July 2nd event. Our non-partisan grassroots movement is mushrooming, taking root throughout communities on the First Coast. Approximately 3,500 people gathered  in the sweltering Florida heat for more than two hours to oppose out-of-control spending, increased taxes, and intrusive government.

Liberals want big government and are afraid of our movement.

That is why they’re attacking and demeaning us instead of focusing on the real issues.

Our grassroots movement is bursting at the seams and cannot be stopped.

Between the heat and summer vacations, we anticipated several hundred people at the July 2nd event.  Instead, an enthusiastic crowd of 3,500 attended.  Everyday Americans from all political parties joined together to oppose government bailouts, stimulus spending and the government takeover of health care.

We are the voice of the people – politicians are listening.

Our movement is strong. Politicians are noticing our efforts and the power of our collective voice.  We are sending a clear message to our elected officials:  if you continue to bankrupt our country, we will unseat you.

In 1773 a group of ordinary citizens protested Britain’s tea tax by dumping that tea into the harbor. The Boston Tea Party was a direct act of defiance against the King of England. This single event galvanized the colonists and led to something much bigger-the American Revolution.

Today’s Tea Party Movement is also a direct act of defiance–against policies that are inconceivable to everyday Americans. And today’s Tea Party will lead to something bigger–a political revolution that will reform Washington. The Tea Party Movement will force politicians to remember that this country was founded on the principles of “We the people.”

Join the First Coast Tea Party in Jacksonville. It’s time to reclaim America.
