 A SPECIAL LETTER TO OUR FELLOW TEA PARTY MEMBERS

 Most of us in the tea party movement are – as some have called us– “political novices.” In the last few weeks, we have been taunted by some of our own tea party members who were previously staunch political party lifers. When the tea party movement started, they came to our meetings and loved what we were doing. We were shining the light on issues and they were thrilled we had awakened. We became the place where they could be energized and motivated again outside their party. They loved us and used us to benefit their issues. They worked with us on special projects against corrupt legislation and even donated to the movement. 

That was then and this is now. Now is election time and some of those who were with us have returned to the party camps. They believe and have told us — we have no place at the table and will damage the elections. We were threatened by some and even had hate mail circulating to others about us and the good work we have done.

 We are not alone in this issue. The tea party leaders all over Florida are getting the same treatment. We feel like a bucket of fish being thrown into a swamp of hungry gators YET while the gators chomp and roll all over each other to get us – we quickly swim off as the current and the one who holds the force of nature help us survive.

Not only has the tea party been trashed by those who were with us, the candidates who were with their own party are being violated as well. Gone are the good old days of parties staying true to each other until the primaries were over.

 Endorsements are coming out of the woodwork too and we encourage you to do your homework to see who is “behind the curtain” of each endorsement. Two tea party organizers in Florida have done some investigation and have uncovered some disturbing information. See for yourself from Central Florida Tea Party Organizer, TomT. Tea Party organizers are joining forces to uncover these issues and these games being played on the Florida voter. It’s not nice to be mean to tea party members and organizers. We’ve worked hard and all we want is Limited Government, Personal Responsibility and Moral Leadership. Is that too much to ask?

Vote Tuesday and Vote for those who stand on principle, who can lead with integrity and who have our back and not the backing of special interests or the big political machine.

 May God Save the USA and forgive those who use dirty tricks in politics.

Whatever one wants to call them, they aren’t Real Republicans and all need to be purged from the GOP.

Bob Dole, once the standard-bearer of the Republican Party, parlayed his political clout into personal wealth, and now he’s putting that wealth to work against a conservative Republican Senate candidate in a general election. Dole, now a lobbyist at Alston Bird, contributed $1,000 on Aug. 11 to the independent Senate campaign of Charlie Crist, who left the GOP in April.
 
Dole’s may be an extreme case — because he’s actually backing a non-Republican — but it epitomizes the fundamental split within the Republican Party.
 
The current GOP fault line is not exactly conservatives vs. moderates or new guard vs. old guard. For 2010, the rivalry is the Tea Party wing against the K Street wing. To tell which kind of Republican a candidate is, see how the Democrats attack him: If he’s branded a shill for Wall Street, he’s from the K Street wing. If he’s labeled an extremist outside the mainstream, he’s a Tea Partier.
 
More tellingly, study their campaign contributions. K Street Republicans’ coffers are filled by the political action committees of defense contractors, drug companies, lobbying firms, and Wall Street banks. A Tea Party Republican is funded by the Club for Growth or the Senate Conservatives Fund, which is run by the Republican leadership’s least-favorite colleague, Jim DeMint.

Shirley Sherrod is another victim of a White House Administration that uses surface information, micromanagement and thuggery to get their way.
 
In the last two years, this administration and Congress has used this type of leadership to push through legislation, failed to understand the consequences of the bills and used thuggery to get the votes they needed to further their ideology.
 
What happened to Shirley is a terrible thing and we hope she will find restitution in the fact that she has been exonerated and made whole again.
 
What happened to America and We the People will forever change the way we live our lives and we are still waiting for an apology from this administration and Congress.
 
They have pushed through way too many bills we do not want and they have put us further into debt against our wishes.   One example is the massive healthcare bill that was passed without fully understanding the consequences and without reading it. Ideology instead of cold hard facts permeated the passing of this bill. The people did not want the healthcare bill to be passed without reading it first. We expected our representatives and our President to fully understand the implications of their decision to pass this huge entitlement program. They did not take the time to do so and just like Shirley, we were faced with thuggery of the worst kind on the American people.
 
We stood outside the halls of Congress and begged them to read the bill and to stop and take the time to know what was in it. Instead of listening, carefully reading and understanding the implications of their vote, they walked through the crowd with a mallet in their hand and shunned the American people.
 
Nancy Pelosi said, “We need to pass the bill so you can know what’s in it.” Well Ms. Pelosi – we now know what’s in it and it is horrible. It will ruin the best healthcare system in the world and the reason it passed is because you and others used that mallet to get your way. Thuggery leadership is the norm in Washington, DC and you and our other leaders use it well.
 
We know Thuggery Leadership played a major role in the passing of this bill and many others too. Thuggery leadership never wins. It might for a while but it does not last long term. As a coach to leaders, when we see this type of leadership on an executive team, we have two options:

1. Develop a Leadership Development program for the executive
2. Fire the executive
 
Most CEOs will choose option #1 and will invest in their people to salvage their careers. Choice #2 shows up when the executive fails to change.
 
When the CEO, himself, is the thug – this becomes a more difficult experience. When we realize it is actually the CEO who is the issue, we share with them how they are coming across, what the consequences of this type of leadership will do for them and their company and what they need to do to change. If the CEO wants to change – they usually do because they see the devastation this behavior is having on their business and their bottom line. If the CEO does not want to change and does not see he is wrong, we fire the CEO as a client because there is no reason for us to be there. In this past week, Thuggery Leadership has come to the front of the American stage and it is time for all of us to stand up and demand change.
 
The NAACP used Thuggery Leadership to slam the Tea Party Movement and we did not fall for it. We knew we were not racists and we stood up and said, “Enough.”
 
The White House used Thuggery Leadership on Shirley Sherrod and she held her head high, told the truth and said “Enough.”
 
Whites, blacks, browns, and all colors of the American people deserve better leadership. Thuggery Leadership in America is not working and it is time for all of us to stand up and say “Enough.”
 
As your coach, We the People see some changes this Administration and Congress can make to right the wrongs and change how they are leading us. Those changes are:

1. Read our founding documents and focus on the blood that has been shed and the sacrifices made by so many to create a free America. Remember the pledge you made to uphold those documents – so help you God.

2. Hold yourselves accountable to each other and the American people by keeping your promises – not to special interests – but to the contract we have with you…the Constitution. Stop manipulating it and shoving it aside to pass legislation that you or your buddies want.

3. Apologize to the American people and ask our forgiveness for this shameful behavior. We are a cool country because we will forgive you IF you show real change in your behaviors moving forward.

4. Stop passing legislation without sitting down together, fully understanding the consequences, putting aside your own personal agendas and stop taking bribes and money from special interest groups.

5. Stop apologizing to foreign countries about our way of life. We have had enough of that and it is time to stand up and say how great we are – because we are.

6. Focus on the real issues at hand and get us out of this mess that YOU created. We did not create it – you did. Be a man and admit you caused this problem and stop blaming others. A great leader admits mistakes and does everything possible to make them right.

7. Listen to us. Answer your phones and sit down and listen to our calls and concerns. Stop sending form letters that do not even address the real concerns. Do not use your boot or your mallet on the America people anymore. Try using a word of encouragement to us who love this country and a strong arm against those who hate us.
 
If you can follow these simple guidelines, you can keep your jobs. You will be better leaders and you will find the American people will follow your lead.If you cannot follow these seven guidelines, we will fire you. That is our only option and we will use it.
 
We have faith in you and are an optimistic people so we are praying that you will heed our message. It will be easier on you and on us if you do so. And, candidly, Thuggery Leadership has no place in America and serves no good purpose.  Will you listen to us this time? Will you make the changes necessary to save this great country from debt, despair and depression?
 
We are counting on you and counting down the days to November 2nd too. That is the day we will determine if you can continue to lead us and if you have made the changes necessary to Serve the People instead of harm the people. May God Save the USA.

On March 27, 2010 writer Frank Rich was quoted in the New York Times Op-Ed section The Tea Party movement is virtually all white. Is this true? He then closed his article with Are these politicians so frightened of offending anyone in the Tea Party-Glenn Beck base that they would rather fall silent than call out its extremist elements and their enablers? Many media outlets, including MSNBC, the Washington Post, CNN, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Huffington Post among others are insinuating that there is racism in the Tea Party movement. Jacksonville, FL:  July 14, 2010 – In lieu of the resolution passed by the NAACP condemning the Tea Party Movement as racist, the First Coast Tea party sadly releases the following formal statement as we stand up for those involved in this great American movement: 

Since the inception of the First Coast Tea Party, the group has been explicit that the Tea Party Movement places no labels on anyone and is open to all who share our mission and want to have a voice in America’s future.  In fact, First Coast Tea Party founders felt so strongly that all Americans, regardless of religion, gender and race, should be welcomed into the movement, they made the above statement part of the First Coast Tea Party’s mission, which can be found on the ABOUT page.

By condemning the Tea Party Movement as racist, with no evidence or formal allegations to back this claim, the NAACP has made it clear they wish to divide rather than unite our country’s citizens.  At a time when our communities should join together and find solutions to the problems we face such as massive debt, growing unemployment and the oil spill, the NAACP instead spends their efforts, time and dollars writing resolutions.

We have much to do to Restore the Republic to its founding principles.  We invite all who want to unite in this effort to join us as we work together to solve problems, hold our political servants accountable to the Constitution and it’s principles and we make a better world for our children and grandchildren to live in where unity prevails and everyone is proud to call themselves an American citizen.

In the movie, Remember the Titans, a group of black and white football members came together against their prejudices and all odds to win a State Championship. They worked hard together, learned to accept each other and became life-long friends because they worked together for a greater cause.

In the last year and a half, the tea party members have worked together also for a greater cause. The cause of liberty! We have stood inside the offices of our Senators and Representatives asking them tough questions such as Why did you vote for this or this or this? We have written letters, we have called, we have signed petitions, we have flown to DC for special legislative votes and together with 2 million of our new friends in the tea party movement – marched on Washington to show solidarity together.

Still – they have ignored us and continue to pass legislation that we do not want, we cannot afford and the polls are showing we have big numbers against their plans.

Yet – they still move forward with arrogance and hostility against the American people and our Constitution.
NOW it is time for you to join us and become a Tea Party Titan. That means…we need your help to change the House and Senate in November. It’s time for you to come to the aid of your country.

Let’s help them remember all the times they ignored our concerns and thumbed their noses at us.
How: We have set up a new team and we hope all of you will join it. It’s the 2010 Election Team and we will mobilize individuals into different jobs within this group. As we cleaned up the park from our July 3rd event, I had to sit down and reflect upon what I had just observed. This is a tough blog to write as I know I may actually insult some people who read this. If I do, please forgive me and know that I am sharing my heart and do so with the best of intentions.

My observation: Those who attended the event yesterday are scared. A solider from WWII stood next to me, looked me in the eye and cried for his country. I felt him look deep into my soul and I will never forget his eyes rimmed with tears. Here stood a grown man, a man who carried a gun for this country and a man now afraid of what is happening around him.
